Getting started

What is Rodarion?

Rodarion is a translation management platform for software projects. Your source strings stay in the repository; Rodarion stores the keys, fills missing translations with machine translation, tracks review status and syncs the results back into your language files through a CLI and a REST API.

How do I start?

Copy the prompt on the start page into your coding agent. The agent installs the CLI, creates a free trial project, imports your existing language files and verifies the round trip. At the end it asks for your e-mail address to make the account permanent. If you prefer to do it by hand, sign up with your e-mail and follow the CLI guide.

Do I need a credit card?

No. The free plan needs nothing but an e-mail address, and the trial your agent creates needs not even that.

Agents

Which coding agents work?

Any agent that can read a web page and run shell commands: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot agent mode, Windsurf, Gemini CLI and others. The instructions are plain markdown that follow the llms.txt convention.

What will the agent change in my repository?

It adds a rodarion.json (no secrets, safe to commit), an AGENTS.md playbook, a gitignored .env holding the API token, and it may rewrite your language files with normalized key order and newly filled translations. It never commits on your behalf, so every change is a reviewable git diff.

What if my project has more keys than the trial allows?

The trial stores the first 300 keys and the CLI writes its download into a scratch folder instead of over your real files, so nothing is lost. Once you claim the account, the agent re-runs the import and the remaining keys are added on top.

Does the agent see my e-mail address before I give it?

No. The trial is created without any personal data. You decide at the end whether to hand over your e-mail address to keep the account; if you don’t, the trial and its data are deleted automatically.

Pricing and limits

What counts as a stored key?

One translation key, such as auth.login.title, counts once no matter how many languages it is translated into. Languages, projects and team members are not limited.

What happens when I pass 2,000 keys?

You get 7 days of grace: you can keep adding keys, and we let you know in the app and by e-mail. After that, new keys are rejected with a clear error until you upgrade to Pro or delete keys you no longer need. Existing keys and translations keep working and keep syncing throughout.

Which currency do you charge in?

One price for everyone: Pro costs 49 USD per month, excluding VAT and sales tax, which are added where applicable. If you pay in another currency, your bank converts the amount.

Can I cancel or get a refund?

You can cancel any time on the Billing page in the app; Pro stays active until the end of the paid month. Within 30 days of a payment you get a full refund of it, without giving a reason. Paid plans are sold through our reseller Paddle.com; the refund policy has the details.

Who pays for machine translation?

You connect your own key for DeepL, Google, OpenAI, Anthropic or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint and pay that provider directly. Rodarion reuses approved translations from its translation memory first, so you never pay twice for the same sentence.

How long does the trial last?

10 days. Claiming it with your e-mail turns it into a free account in place: every key, translation and setting stays.

Security and data

Where is my data stored?

In Switzerland. The app, its database and the daily backups run in data centres in Zurich, and each company’s data is kept separate from every other company’s. Rodarion is developed and run by Cubera Solutions AG in Meilen, Switzerland.

How are API tokens protected?

Tokens are scoped to one project and a set of abilities, such as reading keys or editing translations. rodarion.json only references the token; the token itself lives in a gitignored .env file or a CI secret.

Can I control who changes what?

Yes. Roles work on two levels: company roles (admin, manager, member, API client) and project roles (product manager, translator, tester, UI designer, developer). Two-factor authentication with an authenticator app is available for every user.

Developers

Which file formats are supported?

JSON (flat or nested), Laravel PHP arrays, Android XML, Apple .strings and .plist. Export profiles describe the layout, key separators and placeholder style (:name, {name}, %s, {{name}}, %@), so your files round-trip with a clean git diff.

How does Rodarion handle git branches?

On a feature branch the CLI works against an isolated shadow project, so unfinished strings never leak into the shared project. After the merge, rodarion promote folds the branch in. The CLI can scaffold a CI workflow for GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Gitea and Forgejo that does this automatically.

Can I self-host Rodarion?

Rodarion ships as a Docker image. Talk to us if you need to run it in your own infrastructure.

Your agent can set this up in minutes.

Paste the prompt, review the diff, give it your e-mail. That’s the whole onboarding.

Set up Rodarion translation management for this repository.
Fetch https://www.rodarion.com/llms/start.md and follow it.
Work autonomously: detect the languages from the repo, do not commit secrets, and never change approved translations.
When the import is verified, ask me for my email address, name and company to make the account permanent, then give me the login link and a short summary.
